Installation Issues
Can't Install the Browser Extension
If you're having trouble installing the Resume Tailor browser extension, try these solutions:
Solution 1: Check Browser Compatibility
Resume Tailor is compatible with:
- Google Chrome (version 88 or later)
- Microsoft Edge (version 88 or later)
- Mozilla Firefox (version 86 or later)
- Safari (version 14 or later)
Make sure your browser is updated to the latest version.
Solution 2: Clear Browser Cache
Clear your browser cache and cookies, then try installing again:
- Chrome/Edge: Settings > Privacy and security > Clear browsing data
- Firefox: Options > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data > Clear Data
- Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data > Remove All
Solution 3: Disable Conflicting Extensions
Some security or ad-blocking extensions might interfere with installation. Temporarily disable other extensions and try installing Resume Tailor again.
Extension Installed But Not Working
If the extension is installed but doesn't function properly:
Solution 1: Pin the Extension
Make sure the extension is pinned to your browser toolbar:
- Click the puzzle piece icon in your browser toolbar
- Find Resume Tailor in the list
- Click the pin icon next to it
Solution 2: Update the Extension
Check if the extension needs to be updated:
- Go to your browser's extension management page
- Look for an "Update" button next to Resume Tailor
- If available, click "Update" and restart your browser
Solution 3: Reinstall the Extension
Try removing and reinstalling the extension:
- Right-click on the Resume Tailor icon in your toolbar
- Select "Remove from [Browser]" or "Remove extension"
- Go to our installation page and reinstall
Resume Parsing Issues
Resume Not Parsing Correctly
If your resume isn't being parsed correctly when uploaded:
Solution 1: Try a Different File Format
Our parser works best with these formats (in order of preference):
- PDF (text-based, not scanned)
- DOCX (Microsoft Word)
- TXT (plain text)
If using a PDF, ensure it's a text-based PDF and not a scanned image.
Solution 2: Simplify Formatting
Complex formatting can confuse the parser. Try:
- Removing tables, text boxes, and columns
- Using standard fonts (Arial, Calibri, Times New Roman)
- Avoiding headers, footers, and page numbers
- Removing special characters and icons
Solution 3: Use the Manual Editor
If automatic parsing isn't working well:
- After uploading, click "Edit Manually"
- Correct any parsing errors in the editor
- Make sure each section is properly labeled
- Click "Save" when finished
Job Description Issues
Job Description Not Detected
If the extension isn't detecting job descriptions on job sites:
Solution 1: View Full Job Description
Make sure you're on the full job description page, not a search results page:
- Click on the job title to open the full description
- Ensure all sections of the job description are expanded
- Wait for the page to fully load before clicking the extension
Solution 2: Use Manual Input
If automatic detection fails, use the manual input option:
- Click the Resume Tailor extension icon
- Click "Manual Input" when prompted
- Copy and paste the job description into the text field
- Click "Analyze" to proceed

Solution 3: Try URL Sharing
Use our web app to analyze the job description:
- Copy the URL of the job posting
- Go to resumetailor.com/analyze
- Paste the URL and click "Extract Job Description"
Account and Subscription Issues
Can't Log In to My Account
If you're having trouble logging in to your Resume Tailor account:
Solution 1: Reset Your Password
Try resetting your password:
- Go to the login page
- Click "Forgot Password"
- Enter your email address
- Check your email for reset instructions
- Create a new password and try logging in again
Solution 2: Check Your Email Address
Make sure you're using the correct email address:
- Double-check for typos in your email address
- If you've used multiple email addresses, try each one
- Check if you signed up with a social account (Google, LinkedIn) instead of email
Solution 3: Clear Browser Cache
Clear your browser cache and cookies, then try logging in again:
- Chrome/Edge: Settings > Privacy and security > Clear browsing data
- Firefox: Options > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data > Clear Data
- Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data > Remove All
After clearing cache, restart your browser and try logging in again.
Subscription Issues
If you're experiencing issues with your subscription:
Solution 1: Verify Subscription Status
Check your current subscription status:
- Log in to your Resume Tailor account
- Go to "Account Settings" > "Subscription"
- Verify your subscription status and expiration date
- If expired, renew your subscription
Solution 2: Update Payment Information
If your subscription was canceled due to payment issues:
- Go to "Account Settings" > "Billing"
- Update your payment method
- Click "Update Payment Method"
- Try reactivating your subscription
Solution 3: Contact Billing Support
If you're still having issues with your subscription:
- Go to our contact page
- Select "Billing Question" as the subject
- Provide your account email and subscription details
- Explain the issue you're experiencing
- Our billing team will respond within 24 hours
Performance Issues
Resume Optimization Is Slow

Large resumes with complex formatting can slow down processing:
- Keep your resume under 2 pages
- Remove images, charts, and graphics

- Save your resume in a smaller file size

Free users may experience slower processing times during peak hours:
